| Common name Blue Vervain. I just came across this one online and love the overall look of it. A couple sites said that it is/could possibly be invasive, although I didn't hear too many people complaining of that in reviews of the plant. Is it invasive (yes, yes, I am aware plants are not invasive in all locations/depends on where you live, etc) in general? Spreader, reseeder, or both?
Another thing I read is that it can be a flopper. Will it stay upright in leaner soils, or will it simply flop everywhere? Can it be pinched back early on to stop the flop? Any cultivars out there that are known to be shorter and/or stockier? I'm thinking I may try and locate seeds of it on the Exchange rather than buy a plant, if I don't get too many negative reports of it that is! For my information, will it bloom first year from seed? Do you like it overall? Would you call it a garden worthy plant? Thanks much for any info you can give about it...

I had one this year , it came to my garden by itself. It is described as thriving in wet environment , but with me it was in 'normal' spot. It was not floppy with me. Flowers are very small. Average ornamental value. If I had more space I would possibly keep it, but I needed this place for something else. I have read somewhere that it can be short lived, no personal experience though.Selfseeding can be easy controlled. Bottom right corner:

Thanks for the input wieslaw. Did it bloom a fairly long time for you? I think it looks fantastic paired with the orange Helenium... CMK

Here it blooms for about 3 weeks, depends a little on how hot it is when in bloom.Temps here can really bounce around. I didn't plant mine either, it just showed up 5 or 6 years ago. I get a few seedlings, wouldn't call it invasive here. For me it seems to be rather short lived..two or three years so I always leave a seedling or two.

In one bed with very well amended soil it did lean a bit. In another bed with very lean soil it was very upright.
