Thing is, I know that they're only moderately hardy in zone 6. What should I do with it to overwinter it? I'm sure leaving it in the pot out there is out of the question. Would it live in the pot indoors or die from lack of sun? Should I bury the pot? Keep it in the unheated detached garage?

In your case, since they need excellent drainage or they'll rot, you might consider sinking it outside in a protected spot out of the weather (if possible - eg., next to the house under an eave where it tends to be dry) and hopefully it'll be okay. An unheated garage might work too since it would be only marginal in a pot - but you would want to make sure it is insulated somewhat in case of arctic cold spells and check to make sure it doesn't go bone dry, as it will need some moisture through winter.

Oftentimes overwintering perennials indoors requires making sure the plant has humidity around it and good air circulation, so if you can provide that, then you could give that a shot as an alternative. I have a few marginals myself that I have to bring in and keep in a cool spot since I have no way to sink the pots and haven't tried going through the effort of creating a cold frame.

It's potted in a mixture of orchid bark/ perlite and peat and growing under direct fluorescent light. My place has been very dry and warm. It tends to get dry very quickly between waterings. So I guess overwintering and growing this as a near houseplant is possible, but maybe it's better for cuttings.
