Which works best to get rid of slugs..milorganite or diotomaceous (sp?) earth? If one isnt any better than the other, I will just get the cheapest.

| I use Sluggo for slugs, and it gets the job done. I don't think Milorganite is a slug repellent, but I use it for deer. I've never used the D.E, so can't help you there. |

| DE has to be reapplied after a rain but Sluggo doesn't if that helps you in your decision making. I have used both and Sluggo would be my preferred choice. |

| Tammy, does milorganite help with your deer? There's one nursery around here that sells it. I'm desperate since they ate all the Salvia flower stalks & Caledula blooms then started on the Four O'clocks & Lantana. All in past week. DE wasn't much help this year because of all the rain. Gardens Alive has "Escar-Go! Supreme" this year which says "Kills slugs, snails, earwigs, cutworms, sowbugs, pill bugs, crickets and ants"...all of which present in gross numbers this year. It's expensive when you add shipping but they don't sell that or Sluggo around here...have to order online and have shipped. |

newbie, I havent tried the milorganite yet, but plan on buying it to have ready for spring. I have read several recommendations on it. A GW friend said a local nursery recommended it to her. They told her they hand about a cup full in stockings in trees about 20 feet apart around the perimeter of the gardens or property line and havent had a problem. Most of what I read is that they sprinkle it around their plants. I have a major slug, japanese beetle, and deer problem. Tammy |
