| I have 2 chrysanthemums which were gorgeous and full of blooms. Then quite quickly, they were spent. I deadheaded the dying blooms, and there are just a few buds left on one, and the other doesn't seem to have any buds.
Will these re-bloom this fall/early winter? Or do they only have one flush of flowers per year? I have other things I would like to put in their places if they're not going to flower again. I'm in central NC if that helps. Thanks! |

| If they are hardy mums, they will (with some help) bloom in the spring and then again in the early fall. It's too late now for you to expect another bloom. In locations where mums overwinter, we enjoy their spring flowers, and then cut them back heavily to encourage the full, shrubby growth that will eventually produce buds as the days begin to shorten in the fall. They are short-day plants. |

| think of it this way .. they are a fall flowering plant.. so they trigger bloom as the days get shorter ... and right now.. the days are nearly as short as they will be .... so rhiz is suggesting that they will not trigger again.. until the sun starts rising on the horizon .... probably some scientific term for such.. photo-something-or-another ... lol ... i cant think of anything outdoors.. in late november.. in the northern hemisphere .. that is going to rebloom this time of year .... [leaving out the tropical areas, or course.. and the sub tropic deep south] ken |
