I doubt very much it would survive your winter. It isn't even hardy in the UK except in very sheltered places like courtyards in the south. It can't take freezing.

Doesn't tend to be long term here in this part of USDA 8. Think I have seen 20F given as the minimum temperature before. So it may grow on a wall near salt water for years, only to be lost when a cold enough winter comes along. (Since it is possible to overwinter it for a time, probably it is actually hardy to something more like 15F - we are having a week of nights in the 20s and days in the 40s right now).

well, that s--ks! haha! Glad something made me to double check! so does anyone know anything about lopping it off before wintering in a warmer location? I got it so it could climb a barren double-rail wood fence between properties...

if i took it out this year and then replanted it next spring would it actually grow to an ok size where it might climb and flower, or does this plant really need to establish for more time?

There is a pink Jasmine, that may not be as beautiful, but may survive in zone 7. J. stephenense, which is a hybrid.

Yep, J. X stephenense was fine after this winter, although like all 3 hardiest jasmines, it is rather modest compared to the tender zn 9 varieties.
