Pink Surprise Bush

Orthosiphon labiatus......does anyone grow this plant? I am 2 hours NE of Houston and wonder if it can overwinter here? I plan to repot and keep in my greenhouse over the winter, but wondering if I plant it in the ground in spring, if it will overwinter next year with mulch protection? Thanks....

Sounds like it might (hardiness is listed at down to 20-25F, so spring planting in your area with winter protection (especially when hard freezes come through) sounds like a good idea.

When I lived in the Houston area I grew Orthosiphon stamineus (cat's whiskers) and it was killed off by even light frosts, but the species you describe sounds a bit tougher.

I have this plant and it grows and is fantastic in this area, I am 50 miles north of Houston, also , it will come back each spring. I would like to find out if it is deer resistant.
