Anyone know if there is a conversion between the 'pints' pots and 'inches' or 'quarts'? Found the website where all plants in 5P pots. Any idea of how many inches or quarts a 5P pot would be? Thank you.

I don't know about plant pots, but in general, there are 2 pints in a quart. I would assume that would make a 5 pint pot about 2 1/2 quarts.

Is 5P the price on a British site? 5P or 5p for 5 pence per pot? I googled it & got Thompson and Morgan which offers "Autumn Cottage Garden Bedding Plants from just 5p per plant." Black font between the 2 colored sections at the top, under the red "Special Offers." I have a lot of trouble myself in understanding pot sizes in catalogues. 5P is very cheap, be sure to buy it if that's what it is! If not, well I tried. Best, River

I believe the typical trade description for this size container is a #SP5. It has a 6" top diameter, is about 5 1/4" deep and is approximately one half gallon in volume.

since 5pt = 2.5 quarts I believe I found the answer... 17CM ROUND POLYETHYLENE EUROPOT this is a large pot! not 3" or 4" that many nurseries are offering!

You would be surprised at how loosely the nursery business handles pot sizes. Or at least they used to. I believe a few years back there was a legal move to make us use better descriptions than things like quart or gallon as sizes. If you found this on a website, you email that site and ask them to define to you what they mean by a 5P pot. I've been in the business nearly a quarter of a century and I've ordered gazillions of pots and never heard of one.

I think you found the right answer - it's about 2.5 quarts. I'm very familiar with that nursery - I've known John for about 15 years, and if you're ever in the CT area, try to stop by his place - it's amazing. His backyard (for lack of a better term, it just keeps going and going) has something like 800 different hostas in the ground, and just a ton potted for sale. The plants he sells are all in 5 pint or 1 gallon pots (a few even bigger), but it makes sense that for mail order, he'd only be shipping ones in 5 pint. I highly recommend his plants - I don't think I've ever had one die on me - they're all nicely grown with good root systems. (and no, no affiliation other than a very happy customer.)
