| (Lord these catalogs are getting earlier and earlier every year!)
My basic rule is not to even glance at spring catalogs until after Jan 1. I usually need a break from the previous gardening season. Not sure if I'm going to be able to keep to that rule this year. I'm already rather sick of winter even though it hasn't officially started yet.
The dilemmas of life!

I haven't got any yet. While we are at catalogues, I wonder if there is anybody who has the habit of checking old catalogues (in case something important was overlooked the first 50 times)??

Know the feeling...mine arrived in yesterday's mail. I brought it to work with me this morning hoping I wouldn't have time/be tempted to look through it. We've had unseasonably warm weather--very welcome after the terrible October storm--but unexpected this time of year. So many pretties I'd love to see growing in my flowerbeds but it's the wrong time to even think about spring planting...isn't it? At least I have winter sowing coming up soon to keep me preoccupied until the worst of the cold weather is behind us.

lol wieslaw, thats pretty funny. My 2010 copy of bluestone is pretty worn out. I could easily tell you from memory which are the new plants this year even if they weren't marked out in the catalogue. I just got the 2011 version, not so tempting now with the prices for individual plants as opposed to three packs. What catalogues do you get in Europe?

My gardens are full, but I still just ordered a bunch of seeds. Last year I waited too late to order and they were out of the ones I wanted. I usually like to spend the Christmas holidays perusing catalogs. I always order some new things and it's just fun to dream . . . .

I got the Stokes Seeds catalogue around Thanksgiving, the usual time of year for that. I haven't cracked it open yet; I'll wait until a snowy day in January, draw up a hot bath and soak in the tub whilst perusing the seed catalogs - a slightly odd but enjoyable pastime of mine...

I got Bluestone yesterday too. I love that it came before Christmas. : ) I think they need to make it easier for spouses to order gift certificates though, maybe instructions in big letters on the front cover. Or I could just conveniently leave a list of my favorites inside the catalog, sticking out a little from between the pages. lol (it wouldn't work)

I sneaked a look inside whenever I had a chance today but those higher prices just stopped me cold. Anything I saw that I liked was priced way out of my budget. They're a good company, I had great luck with their plants the past several years and I wish them success but it won't be out of my wallet, not after the huge expenses from the October snowstorm. I'll keep the catalog for reference purposes only and spend my pennies on seeds I can winter sow or the Santa Rosa Gardens end-of-season sale for things I can't grow from seed. They, too, guarantee all their plants 100% & have top-notch customer service.

Miclino, here in Europe when I buy something, they usually send me catalogues for some years afterwards. I get catalogues from Iris Cayeux(France), Bourdillon Iris(they have iris, hemerocallis, papaver and peonies), Cotswold Garden Flowers from England , Sarastro Stauden from Austria, Stauden Stade from Germany and Jelitto Seed from Germany and several others. In recent years I have been buying mostly from Germany(cheaper plants and P&P) . Most plants with wrong identity ('substitutions' without information) are coming from England . I avoid buying plants propagated in laboratories(especially cheap daylilies from Holland), as they do not resemble mother plants.

Well, I did try to sneak a peak the other evening, but I'm really not in the mood yet. Like Mxk, it's much more fun going through these catalogs when the weather outside is absolutely horrid. Then there's nothing better than curling up on the couch with some tea, maybe a snack and maybe a good movie on the TV - a perfect evening. I can't wait too long though. If I order by sometime in Feb. there's a 15% discount, plus with all the other coupons and whatever I have stashed away, I should be able to do quite well. I like taking advantage of deals. Kevin

So far I have been resisting the temptation to delve into it, but that's only because I'm getting company this weekend and have trying to get the tree up and decorated. but oh to dream.

I did look at the catalog but on first pass nothing really new or exciting. Don't think Bluestone will get any of my money this year.

In going through all my Bluestone coupons, I know I'll order more than I probably would have if those coupons didn't exist. I still haven't gone through the whole catalog, but I'm sneaking a look now and then. First there's the 15% off if ordered by mid Feb. Free shipping coupon 1 plant - any price - free $2 off any full sun plant $2 off any plant in coconut fiber pot $1.50 any white flowering perennial $2 off any one plant - anything $1.50 off any phlox Free plant with $100 order - my choice Free surprise plant with $85 order and the list goes on and on. I still have a whole stack of other coupon offers. For me, these make a difference as long as I'm getting plants I really want. Kevin
