Your favorite holiday song!

Mine is Christmas Canon by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, mainly because Pachelbel's Canon is my all-time favorite composition...but also because of the sweet children's voices. :)

DH's all-time Christmas favorite is O Holy Night, but he also really loves (and so do I!) The Gift....tear jerker to the maximum!

What are your favorites?

The Carol of the Bells by Trans-Siberian Orchestra is by far my favorite.

We Three Kings because my son and I have been singing it together every year since he was very little. He was fascinated by the song and we would sing it over and over!

Other favorites include 'It Came Upon a Midnight Clear', 'Hark, the Herald (Angels Sing)' and 'O Holy Night'.

We like to turn down the lights so all the decorations and Christmas tree are twinkly and sing carols. We celebrate Christmas on Christmas Eve with no festivities on Christmas Day.

"Mary's Boy Child" by, eh, what's their name. The Jamaican sounding one.

Unfortunately I spend a lot of time being irritated with the radio stations because they start playing Christmas songs sooooooo early. I'm usually not real ready for Christmas music until right about now... maybe my country-of-origin's old tradition of celebrating Saint Nicholas' feast day on the 5th? (With lots of presents). So today I happily hummed along with every song on the radio...

I love O Holy Night which always makes me cry and my husband loves Away In a Manger and he always cries. LOL...So i guess our favorite songs just touch us so deep and then we cry. I love all the Christmas songs though.

Marco, have you heard this one?

    Bob Rivers Comedy Corp Lyrics

    The Chimney Song

there's something stuck up in the chimney
and i don't know what it is
but it's been there all night long.
well, i waited up for santa all christmas night
but he never came and it don't seem right.
and there's something in the chimney
and it doesn't make a sound,
but i wish you merry christmas.

there's something stuck up in the chimney
and i don't know what it is,
but it's been there all week long.
well the dog keeps barking up the chimney flue
and we don't know what we're gonna do.
cos there's something in the chimney
    and it doesn't move around
and it's been a week since christmas.

there's something stuck up in the chimney
and i don't know what it is
but it's been there all month long.
well, it's jammed up tight above the fireplace
now the house smells funny, such a big disgrace.
that there's something in the chimney
and it doesn't talk at all
and it's been there since last christmas.

there's something stuck up in the chimney
and i don't know what it is
but it's been there all year long.
i'll be waiting up for santa like i did last year
but my brother says, he's already here...
and he's stuck up in the chimney
and he doesn't say a word
and he'll be there every christmas.
and we'll have him every christmas.

    I know. I am so abnormal. :-)

On a serious note, for me it needs to be that Italian guy, Luciano Pavarotti and the O Holy Night CD. Out of those selections my favorite is Gesu bambino

YIKES! It isn't swift season here but I hope they do come back for a smooch or 16. :-)

I too adore Luciano Pavarotti and the O Holy Night CD. Imagine that! But ... my favourite from that CD is Mille cherubini in coro. ... A Choir of a Thousand Cherubs.

    Merry Christmas Brenda!

Ahhhh, up nice and early this Christmas morn, I am! Merry Christmas to you, and ALL of yours, too, Chicka!!!!

Many of the songs you all posted I hadn't heard before, but yesterday, while listening to the Holly channel on the XM station on satellite TV, I heard many of them - like Mary's reggae-sounding one! And The Chimney Song, sung with such a darling little voice!

Have a wonderful day, everyone! :)

    Thank you Capt. Obvious! :-)

One that I really like is the one with the Barenaked Ladies & Sarah McLachlan.

Ooo, that's one of my favorites this year, too, Fi guy! I can't help but turn it up every time I hear it!

I'm heading out of town today, so won't be able to check back in for a few days, but...if anyone would like to add songs that they feel are/were over-played, please do. LOL For example, if I hear "My Grown-Up Christmas List" (or somesuch) one more time, I think I'll scream. :D Apologies if that's anyone's favorite song, though. LOL

Oh, you're so lucky, Chicka! I've never had the pleasure of seeing them perform on TV, let alone live in concert! I really love their music.

Have a WONDERFUL time for me, too! :D
