GW End of 2007 Injury Report

:D

We got back from the folks' and a great, late Christmas celebration on Friday. I promptly turned my ankle and fell hard on my knee in the driveway. Thought for sure I blasted my kneecap into oblivion, but thankfully nothing broke!! Except my pride and probably all of the nerves below my knee. :D

Anyway, what blew my mind was how our Pookie kitty reacted! Normally, we return from a trip to find her begging for canned treats, but even when DH made a big production out of serving it up for her, she still refused to leave my side. No meowing, either, which is strange for her. She just silently sat staring up at her moaning, whining Mom until DH lifted her up on the bed, where she curled up and waited for me to "get better."

This year, I salute Nurse Keets and all of the precious animals who are there for us when we need them most! :)

Awww. Poor Brenda! Glad nothing too serious happened. Twisted, bumped and bruised is enough. Nurse Pookie! How sweet is that? If she is willing, placing her on top of your twisted ankle will make it feel better much faster especially if she's purring!

Brenda thinking C3Ds been eating too much suet lately ... must be doing something to her ChickaDDD brain...

No really! Purring is a three part synchronized harmony. The diaphragm vibrates at 100Hz. The larynx at 50 Hz. and the pharynx at 25 Hz. The 100Hz. frequency is the only known frequency proven to speed the healing of bone fractures! Maybe that's why hurt kitties purr. To make themselves feel better and heal faster.

If you were injured at Camp Nappy, Daisy would leave rawhides and toys on and around you. Sort of a Daisy mystical healing circle of doggy amulets.

Going out to eat more suet now....

Oh darn Brenda! Hopefully you'll heal really quickly. Isn't it amazing how much the body can withstand? There are times when I've fallen and thought there was absolutely no way I didn't break anything.....but I didn't. YAY body!
Chickadeex3.........that's very interesting info about the frequencies.
Brenda.......you're lucky to have such a wonderful cat. How sweet of her to be so concerned with you! Put that little purring titter tatter on your knee and ankle right now! Get well soon!

Brenda, sorry to read you had a slip and fall.
Ya gotta add more water to the hooch!
We at the RCG don't know nothing about purring and that frequences stuff the chickadiddledee bird was on about.
But being goosi we poop frequently and there nothing like a goose-poop-poultice to take the swelling down on that there knee of yours.
Just say the word and we'll be the birds to Alcanpoopa eh!

Horton, if I hadn't read something similar in a book on folk medicine, I'd think you were having a joke on poor Brandy. Just don't try mailing the stuff. They might think you were shipping terrorist materials. :D Sandy

Oops, my bad. Brenda, I am so sorry you are hurting. Make sure the doctor does his job correctly. Having a hurt knee is worse when it doesn't heal right. Aren't cats amazing. They can be all intent on getting attention for themselves but when you get hurt they have their attention entirely on you. You know you are well when the cat begins demanding for itself, again. Not that I need reminding, but it's now obvious why I love this forum! What a bunch of sweeties! :)))))

Chicka, that surprises me not about the purring thing (and I don't think you're crazy! LOL)! So freaky, but last night, while lying in bed thinking about what you'd posted, I remembered that my folks' kitty, Callie, used to get up on my dad's shoulders and lay across them and his neck. Guess what? He had bad pain from a previous fall and broken vertebrae in that area! Did she know that he needed her powerful purring action to treat the area?! *goosebumps*

OHHHHmmmm...I'm imagining the power of Daisy and her amulets right now, though. I'm in Drool City on the outskirts of Peace and Love, Sister. LOL

LOL!!! @ Sandy and Horton! Ok, I'm thinking 20 minutes of kitty, then 20 minutes of goose-poop-poultice, off and on, all day. I was considering both at the same time, but Nurse Keets has certain standards. :D

Thanks Catherine, Sarah, & CT for your kind words, too! This isn't the first (or 2nd, 3rd, 4th...) time I've done this, but it doesn't seem to get any better each time. :D

Ah Brenda, sorry to hear about your injury. Me thinks it's life's way of saying, SLOW DOWN and take some time for yourself. So cuddle with Nurse Keets, have a glass of wine and get out those binoculars and enjoy your birdie visitors.

Very interesting stuff about the kitty purring - my husband's doctor ordered one of those machines that emit the proper frequency for him to wear when his broken hip would not heal. If we had known about the purring, it would have been alot cheaper to just strap the cat to his hip! And Smokey would have loved being "carried" around all day.

Sandy,No problem, we can deliver right to your door step by air mail.

Brenda, nix Jeanners prescription of the glass of wine. That's probably the root cause of the swollen knee!!??
But if you really figure it will help, stay lying down on the floor after you drink the vino! ;-)

LOL!! Well, the doc kept trying to push Vicodin on me, and my rationale was that I could just wash down some Tylenol with a pint of vodka. Voila! She seemed pleased with my prescription, although she did say that orange juice goes much better with vodka than coffee, especially first thing in the morning. *hiccup*

    What knee?

Good morning Brandy. Happy New Year to you and yours. :-) Hope your body parts are feeling better each day.

*Goosebumps* about Calli's purr and heat therapy indeed! When I get a really bad migraine, one of the cats will lay across the top of my head and purr. Initially it is really annoying but quickly does seem to help and I fall asleep.

Sorry Dr. Horton. Hope you won't be too offended if I don't apply a goose-poop-poultice to my head. 8-)

Then there is Daisy Amulet Voodoo. In September Mike injured his back and was in bed for about two days. I'd look in on him and he'd be asleep with a pig ear on his chest or shoulder, a rawhide pre-chewed thingy next to his face, and two to three squeaky toys around him tucked up near his knees, his back and his shoulder. LOL! Wish I had taken a picture! I'd clear these healing items off of him and off the bed.

Whaddaya think? Daisy would replace each of them in the EXACT same place she *knew* they needed to be! Maybe Mike was only in severe pain for two days because of her healing powers? Maybe the pain was worth it to get out of bed and away from the rawhide and pig ear?

OK. If you want to retract your statement of ... and I don't think you're crazy!... I understand. :-)

Awwww, Shaman Daisy!! It had to be her healing powers, because I can't imagine wanting to get away from pigs' ears and rawHIDE**. In fact, I seek them out often. :D Everyone should be so lucky to have a Daisy in their lives! I'm currently on the waiting list.

Truly, I don't think you're crazy, Chicka. But consider the source. LOL
