Started my pond work about a month or so ago. Here is a picasa album with some construction photos. I'll update periodically. Want to say thanks to all of the folks on this forum that have provided advice. I appreciate it.

Chris,

That is fabulous!!! I look forward to seeing pictures of the completed pond AND seeing the fish your daughters pick out and hearing what they name them. It looks like there might have to be a bridge to the tent!!!

Great job so far!!!! I love the fact that you included a bottom drain and skimmer. Can I ask what you are running the Bottom drain too?

Jane,
Um, labor??? LOL I've never actually *seen* them labor at anything!

Anne,
Ha! The tent was only temporary. My kids and some friends wanted to sleep outside and, of course, the night they decided to do that an enormous thunderstorm blew through. I had to get up at 2AM to ferry them all into the house! You were correct, though, about the bridge. The latest pics include the base framing for the bridge and a full-force water test in video (with sound!). Check them out.

Lisa,
The bottom drain goes to the first chamber in the skimmer. My pump intake line is in the back of the skimmer. I guess the theory is that the skimmer pulls junk off the top and the drain gets stuff from the bottom. Anxious to see it all working!

Can't wait to see the end results! Looks great, you must have put lots of planning and research into it. Good job!

Thank you. I think I have read every book, magazine, article, post, blog and forum on ponding that you can find. And I still had/have a bunch of silly questions. People out here have been *very* helpful though.

New pics coming soon!

Wow what a project! Do you mind if I ask how many GPH your pump will be? I'm ordering a new one and I would like the same amount of water as you show in your video.

RE: New Pond Construction

Thnak you. I bought the Sequence 5100 pump. So, it's 5100 GPH. But, I am pumping water up the distance of my stream which is 60 feet and up a height of 6 ft. So my total head was at least 12 FT. In addition, I got into an argument with the company I bought the pump from (which shall be nameless, but rhymes with bebbsonline.com). about friction loss and the size of the pipe I bought - and which they recommended. My point, is that my GPH may not translate to your exact situation. How far and how high are you trying to pump water?
