Shubunkin Fungus

| I have a Shubunkin in my pond and other fish which i've had for 4yrs he is a good size and have had no problems with him.Over the last 6 weeks with the cold weather they have been hiding away at the bottom of the pond,he appeared yesterday for the first time but has some kind of fungus on his back it looks like a small clump of brown fur about half inch wide. I took him out put him in a bucket on his own added some fungus treatment i have and some salt. Not sure if i'm doing the right thing for it can you advise me on what it is and can it be cured.

Fungus usually comes around when a fish injurys itself so how rather from a predator or a cutting itself on a rock. Its usually treatable by using the products you are using. Salt is the best product for fungus injurys however using a higher doseage is better. If you take it out and place in a salt bath usually a 3-5% mixture for just a 1-2 min only then place back into the pond continue to do the treatment as needed. Another product would be pimafix for fungus and melafix for bacteria. they work real well together as well.
