Tropical marginals dormancy

Two months ago I planted an Umbrella Palm and a Papyrus I brought from Illinois to our new FL home in Titusville (near Cocoa Beach). The Papyrus took off and has already outgrown its pot. The Umbrella Palm must be dormant as its maybe even regressed a little. I thought both would take off but maybe the Umbrella is naturally winter dormant?

Umbrella Palm? Mostly hear it referred to as Umbrella Grass, but it's actually a sedge. There are many species of similar looking sedges and they grow to different sizes. They can grow right through the winter but you need to be in a warm climate. Drying out also makes them go dormant although they will come back again with moisture and warmer conditions. Papyrus isn't a tropical and grows quite well in cooler conditions, winter time if it isn't too cold.
