| I'd like to make fabric bags for my water plants. Has anyone made their own? What did you use, where did you get it? How did you put it together? Do you sew it or glue it?
What other kinds of containers do you use to hold your water lilies and other submerged plants? I was given 2 reed baskets, but even lining them with a heavy cotton bag wouldn't hold the soil in place, would it? Would heavy plastic, 6 mill or more, or pond liner work? Thanks. Ella |

| You might have better success using the non-woven garden fabric used to line everything from crop rows to pathways to eliminate weeds. I have had very good luck with them so long as they were used as liners in pots. Otherwise they had a tendency to "slide" as the plants grew large. |

| "What other kinds of containers do you use to hold your water lilies and other submerged plants?" I have used the plastic ice cream buckets for marginals and dishpans from the dollar store for lilies. |

| Thanks for that reminder. Corrie (and others) use dishpans and a variety of hard sided pots and pans, so I will too. Beats sewing or gluing! Thanks. Ella |

| Or visit your local nursery and pick up used black plastic planters. You can get them from very small up to probably 50 gal in size; being black they are not unsightly in the pond. |

| I've used some nice black plastic mesh pots to contain the substrate. I believe I got them at the blue store (Lowes) but the orange store (Home Depot) may also have them. Cheapest price from the big chain, though sometimes I feel sorry for my non-chain local fish store and overpay to buy things there. |
