Last couple of days I have noticed that my filter pump makes humming noice. It was always very quite, now makes annoying noise. Before I call my pond people, I know it's going to cost me money, maybe somebody has some ideas what is making that noise, and what to do about it. Thank you. Anna

Anna, when was the last time you did maintenance on the pump? In most cases a noise like that is caused by stuff wrapped around the impeller or the motor is unbalanced because it isn't level. The first is an easy fix the second not quite so easy depending on how long it has been going on. You should be able to do the basic stuff by yourself.

Anna, The first question has to be who made the pump? If the pump is a direct drive pump the most likely problem is a bearing going bad on the pump. How old is the pump? Mike
