| I checked my pond 2 days ago and all was well, it has been very cold here and the hole is only about the size of a saucer (500 gal preform). I was tied up today and didn't get to check it till 10:00 tonight. I found my biggest fish (12" goldie), a few other fish and a bunch of frogs hanging at the surface of the hole. I could also see all the other fish were right up under the ice. One of the air tubes had come loose from the pump so there was hardly any air pumping in the pond. I replaced the tubing and added a second pump That I had for a spare. Is there anything else I should do? They did get a slight water change a couple weeks ago when we thawed out for a day or two. Should I put some long tubing out to the middle of the pond for air? I don't want to cause any more stress and am hoping I cought this in time for them to recover. Please let me know what else I should do and if you think they will be ok. THANKS! |

| Thanks Sara. They are back down near the bottom and moving slowly as they should be. I don't see anything floating up under the ice. Don't see any frogs so I hope they have all gone back to their pots. It will be at least 2 months before I will be able to tell if the stress has caused any illness. For now I will leave things as they are and hope quick action kept them from getting too stressed. |
