Both deicers pooped out at same time

This is strange.....Both the birdbath heater in my small preform and the stocktank deicer in the large stocktank quit working today at the same time. The GFCI was still on. We had a snowstorm yesterday and the power flickered several times. I don't know if that could kill them.
Actually, the larger deicer didn't die. It just quit floating. Why would that be? It was sitting on the bottom of the stocktank. Why would it quit floating? Was it just depressed or tired? haha
Fortunately, I keep a spare every winter, so its warming up again. I hope it didn't kill any of the frogs.
Any ideas?

The deicer I once used had Styrofoam inside. I thought that stuff was just about unsinkable. If your deicer is the same type it may be physically damaged.
My deicer was buried in a snowstorm a few years ago. I switched to an aquarium air pump bubbler the next year.

Are you sure they don't work now? Sometimes a device with a thermostat will get hung up when the power flickers like that. Try plugging it into another socket after it warms up and then gets cold again. That can reset it some of the time.
I can't come up with a solution to the sinker. What kind is it? I don't want to buy one of those.
At the moment I am trying to figure out why my pond hasn't frozen over at all even though the temps have been well below freezing. My new deicer is sitting here unused while I see lovely frozen waterfalls surrounding falling water. The chunks of ice break off after a while. I hope the fish don't get clobbered.

I think its an "Ice Chaser" by Farm Innovators. I've had it for about 5 years, so maybe it just got old. It still heats up, but sinks. Would that hurt the bottom of the in-ground stocktank? I think it was probably still keeping it sort of warm in there, just not warm enough at the top to keep a thin layer of ice from forming.

Sandy, that's wild that yours won't freeze! Maybe the falls is just enough. I turned my falls off, as they are so little, they were freezing up.
Anyhow.....the new stuff I put out there is working great and keeping it all open. Last year I alternated using the deicer with the water pump and I had 3 dead frogs in the spring. So I'm trying to keep the deicer going all the time now. I think its the fluctuation in temp last year that did them in.
