Half-dug pond?

A while back I was thinking of putting in a small pond in the back yard for some water lilies, maybe koi, and especially for the dog to cool off in the summer. I found a site on building a "half-dug pond" I think it was called. You simply layed a frame of pressure treated lumber on the ground the size of the pond, dug out some dirt from inside, use that to make sloped walls on the outside of the frame, and then line with rubber. It sounded simple enough, but now it's cool enough here to dig (southern FL) and I can't find the site. Does anyone have experience building a pond like this? Or maybe re-direct me to the site? One concern I have is with our sandy soil, the summer rains will wash the dirt I've dug out back under the pond.
