Help! Suggestions for treatment.

My favorite fish in my pond, my blue & white shubukin has become ill. He or she has been with me for 6 years. Wednesday I found it floating on its side in the pond. I removed it and put it in an isolation tub. It has been in the same shape for the past few days.

I gave it a 20 minute salt bath last night and today I added Stress Coat to the water. In addition I started a treatment with Tetra Lifeguard today.

There are no visable signs of infection, parasites, fungus.

Most of the time it will spend on its side always at the top of the water and can occasionally upright itself with difficulty. Today it even rolled over with its bottom part of the body pointing up for a moment.

Could it be swimmer's bladder even though I haven't started feeding them yet?

Could it just be old age and it is dying?

All other fish in the pond are doing great.

Thanks for any suggestions,
-Mike

I cant help you other than to suggest the skined Pea diet. Just hoped in to tell you I have one that is 10+ years old and looks great. So I don't think it's age. Best of luck. I hope your fish recovers!

Lisa,

When feeding a pea do you have to force feed it? Any technique that works best?

What are the water parameters of the pond/tub including temperature? When you move him/her to the tub did you use the water from the pond? Try to use at least some of the water he/she was in. All new water can/will shock him/her.
