Pot size for hardy waterlillies

I'm wondering what size pot/containers I should plant my waterlilies in. I made the mistake of planting too many plants in my 16" no hole pots. Now they are very crowded. If I only plant one per pot, what size should I put them in. Research says 10"-26". But only have a certain amount of space and a whole lots of plants. My pond is 1800 gal. 16ft long X 7ft wide X 2ft depth. I also plan on selling/giving many away. So the one's for that, should I put in smaller (what size?) containors?

thanks

Hi
I grow only the tropical lilies but use standard 10/12
pots because I find i have to repot every year anyway.
It does somewhat limit the size of the flowers but sure a lot easier getting in and out of the pond . Of course if your pots are subject to freeze might not work??? gary

Regarding oil pans. I hadn't realize they were deep enough. I thought one needed at least 5+ inches in depth? Do they grow over the pots?
Thanks so much guys!
