Big Froggie is BACK!

One member of my pond is Big Froggie, a rather obvious choice of names but he is a BIG green frog (size of my fist) who seems to prefer birds as the main stay of his diet.

Anyway, he was absent from the pond this spring, two other smaller frogs were there, the fish made it too, but Big Froggie was missing. I figured he may have dug into the ground for the winter till I briefly spied him in my plant pond last weekend.

That plant pond was gross, full of leaves and muck and smelled like a swamp. Ban bad bad. Thinking my dumb frog may be staying down there I decided to take advantage of the new daylight savings hour last night and bucket in hand drained the water and tossed the leaves.

Half way thru POP mister Big Froggie surfaced. I netted him out and deposited him into the fish pond. He seems amiss, not having all that muck to hide under. May be a little weak too and not able to swim/jump out of the pond, so I made a ramp he can crawl out on.

Its always nice to see him. Spring is coming!
