Water is crystal clear

Pond is crystal clear. Four very large koi died because of the algae buildup. I can clearly see them all now. They were over begging for food. One is not good. His back and one eye is covered in algae. He looks like the rocks. I tried to lightly rub him with a sponge but didn't work and I don't want to stress him. Sunny today and water temp is over 50. I guess it's wait and see. I have 13 fish left.

Lily, I don't get the full picture.

Why not just try clearing as much of the string algae as possible? How big is your pond? Have you tried netting what you can with a slight twirling motion to the net fitted with an extension arm?

I am not having an algae flow now. That has cleared completely up and there is just a little "fuzz"on the rocks. This is the after affects of the Feb. algae bloom which we didn't see because of the deep snow and ice covering the pond. The water tests good now. The 13 fish are good but one is not. We netted him today and put him in a salted 30 gal.Rubbermade tub. The water in the tub is 62 because it is in the sun. I don't think he'll make it but I'm doing what I can.

I see. Good luck.

It has always amazed me how well string algae can grow when nothing else green can. Amazing!

The koi is hanging in there..swimming in his salted 30 gallon tub. The water temp is 58, the pond water is 53. At night the pond water doesn't change much but the tub water drops about 10 degrees. It's 70 air temp in the day and 40 or lower at night. Since his slime coat is returning and the algae is dropping off, should he stay in the tub or go back in the pond?
