Right waterfall pump

I would like to get your thoughts and ideas on an affordable pond pump to power my waterfall and possibly add a skimmer like the BIOsys AquaSkim 40. I have seen the Calpump PLP5000 that states it has a 2" intake and discharge. The intake would work well for the skimmer(except that the AquaSkim uses a 1 1/2" tube). The site also states that the pump would produce 4150 GPH @ 10' head. I have a pond that is approximately 2600 gallons. It is also approximatley 4-5 feet deep at the deepest( but the pump/skimmer will be at the other end about 2-3 feet down ) Maybe about 6-8 feet of horizontal from pump to waterfall. I have jet to build the waterfall but was going to make a skippy filter that is fed into a custom weir using #5 storage bin from Lowe's. What are your ideas on proper pump and possible skimmer ideas? P.S. The pond is concrete and would be very difficult to retro fit any other type of skimmer. Thanks.

Also pertaining to the previous post, If I do use that AquaSkim with a 1 1/2" fitting, should I also have a 1/2" fitting on the inflow to make up for the 2" pipe and not restrict flow rates?

Your pond is 2600 gallons, right? Are you trying to create Niagara Falls? :o) The rule of thumb is that you need a pump that will circulate all of your water in two hours. Take a look at Harbor Freight at there waterfall pumps.

Here is a link that might be useful: Waterfall pumps at Harbor Freight
