| I've been buying my gloves from various nurseries, but they never last very long. They have a solid hand part, but then a clear plastic sleeve, which always separates from the hand part. At that point, they're useless.
Anyone have a good brand they like to use? Thanks. |

| I've used these gloves from Harbor Freight in the past with good results. I picked 'em cause they were extremely cheap and therefore I wouldn't care about treating 'em harshly. On my one pair, the plastic coating between the thumb and 1st finger is starting to tear, but then again I did use these to totally re-do the rock work in and around my pond. The tear doesn't affect performance - it only affects the non-slip coating, not the fabric base. - Mike |

| I use black plastic garbage bags with rubber bands holding them onto my arms. They are long enough to reach up to my shoulder. Although they don't have fingers, I can work with them well enough. Don't know if that would work for you, but it does for me. Anne |

| It is the extra length that is the real problem. I saw several ads for the type you mention and I can see the problem. There is another glove that has the extra length and the waterproofing. It is the Atlas brand and I see it advertised for a lot of different prices, anywhere between $19 up to $29. That is a big difference as far as I am concerned. The one problem I see is they are nitrile. If you leave nitrile in the sun it degrades very fast in my experience. It is cotton lined, at least a part of it is, so maybe you could turn it out to protect them when you don't need to be wearing them. In the photos it doesn't look like they are very close fitting. Is that a problem? I just sprang for a pair of Fox Gloves that teach to my elbow. They feel great but they are definitely not waterproof but we will have to see if they are as durable and protect as well as they claim they will. For the most part I buy a box or two of nitrile or vinyl gloves each spring and just toss them when they rip. I sometimes use 5 or 6 gloves a day that way. I always look for the sales. For a lot of heavy work I like to use kidskin gloves or some other leather gloves. I just toss them in the washer and then put them on still wet to shape them, then air dry them. I have been wearing the Fox Gloves while typing this and haven't increased my quota of errors so I guess the flexibility and comfort are as advertised. The thumb length is too long but I am used to that problem. I don't think there are any gloves made to exactly fit my hand. |

| Most vets sell OB sleeves - poly gloves that go up to your arm pit(25 cents each or ~ $18/100). I have used these with a latex exam glove over the top, or even a cheap garden glove over it (alone they won't take rock handling!). S |

| Thanks everyone. |

| You use gloves? ;) I cannot stand gloves on my hands, but really do hate getting the much under my nails. |

| karen.....I think its a health issue. There's lots of potentially dangerous-to-health things in ponds. |
