So sorry to hear that Anne! We're never quite sure what we'll find in spring, when everything thaws out. I don't have fish. I just can't stand to lose them, so I don't have any. (I did lose one of my favorite hens yesterday though). :( Its a real bummer to lose anything we care about!

Oh, Catherine, you mean you lost one of your giant hens? I still laugh every time I think of my shock at seeing GIANT hens! hahaha At least I think you were the one with the giant hen pictures. I thought they were sheep or goats.

Yeah, it is hard to lose any pets. A ponding friend offered to give me babies when her fish breed this summer, so if I do decide to have a pond again I can get them.

Pasha!!! Sorry to hear you lost your babies...but just think of how much pleasure you get from sitting by your pond and watching the fish swimming...and take the offer for more fish!!! You know you won't regret it!!!

How did I miss the pictures of the hens? I would have loved to see them although I had a real grudge against them when I was a child. Two summers running I had moccasins with beads on them and I had to take them off and go barefoot or the chickens would try to eat the beads. Mostly they stabbed my feet with their beaks. OW!! Since they rarely caught hold of the beads I think they don't see all that well but it didn't keep them from trying. I swore they laid ambushes for me.

I am so sorry about the fish. They do grow on you and it is hard to lose all of them. I agree with Calamity. Don't turn down the offer of free fish even if you don't get to pick them out. I lost my biggest koi a few weeks ago and I could have cried, but I plan to get more once the pond is repaired.
