I have a sequence 4000 series pump that I am really happy with. This is my third season with it. I've really mistreated it too, including not winterizing, accidentally removing my pre-pump filtration and having it clog up with leaves/debris. Not activities I recommend, of course, but stuff happens and it has held up well. -Chris

The best external pumps on the market today for ponds are made by Performance Pro. I would suggest either a Cascade or Artesian. Sequence use to make the best pumps on the market but then they started going after the cheap market. I still use some of my old Sequence pumps that are 16 and 17 years old and still going strong. These pumps have been submersed on more then one occasion. But then I has have a Cascade pump on my pond that is 5 years old that one of my clients left it submersed for at least 2 weeks. I did have to change the bearings but I have been running that pump for two years none stop. I would believe that this pump will last another ten years or more. Mike

Sonya, I'm going through the same issue right now. I had / have a Sequence Series 1000 4300SEQ20. I bought it in fall of 2005 and this spring it was seized up. With the help of "mike_il WChi", fellow in the previous post and a local motor shop, I was able to get it going again. I did however do a lot of shopping for a new pump. My requirements are a flow around 3500-4500 GPH through 1.5"pvc at a electrical cost that will not break the bank. First I believe the Sequence Series 1000 pumps have been replaced by the Sequence Series 4000 pumps although you can still find the 1000 Series being sold. I don't have a lot of money to spend on a pump right now so I settled on the ValuFlo Series 1000 Pumps Model-5100VAF22. Between the new ValuFlo Series 1000 pump and my old Sequence Series 1000 pump I will be able to have a backup with all the same hookups and intake / outlet size. The best price I found for the ValuFlo Series 1000 pumps was http://www.webbsonline.com. They also carry the Sequence Series 1000 and Sequence Series 4000 pumps. -Mike

I have a W.Lim pump that has worked well for me. Artesian and Sequence are very good, too.

I would ditto what Mike_il recommended-- We've had an Artisan Pro by Performance Pro for several years and haven't had to replace anything except the strainer basket this past year. Sherry
