I'm wondering if there is such a thing as a filter/fountain combination for a pond. I really can't afford a really expensive one, if there is such a thing. What brand?, price?, etc. I am going to treat the pond for algae and I don't know if what I have will do the trick as far as moving the water like it's supposed to do. I only recall it's a Sunterra but the size, etc. I don't remember.

Im sure you are probably looking for something different but i just bought a cheap filter which can also be just a pump or oxygenator, off of ebay. Like i said its cheap but seems to be doing fine its not exactly a fountain but the part that puts the water back in the pond is a long plastic piece with a row of holes so the water has like a sprinkler effect. Hope this helps

If you want a cheap pump, check at Harbor Freight. They have pumps that have a sponge filter at the intake.

I agree. You can't beat HF pumps for cheap reliability. I've used them for years and they come in all different sizes depending on need.

the only thing about cheap pumps is that they are energy hogs, and will cost you a lot in the long run.a good energy efficient pump is a mag drive.you did not say how big your pond is?you should turn over your pond at least once every hour.the mag drive 1800 pumps 1800 gal per hr.uses 145 watts.

Joe, the pumps at HF are Mag drives and you can get parts for them.

brownthumbia: How big is your pond? Do you keep fish? How will you treat the pond for algae? I believe I have a Sunterra pump but I just use it to make a small pretty waterfall, they are not a quality pump. I only bought it as it was cheap enough to toss if (when) it breaks.
