Good information about stream/pond construction

Posted by jarvinen 4 (My Page) on

I'm planning on putting a short rocky stream that will end in a small pond along the edge of our yard. Does anyone have any advice for websites, books, etc. that would be good for showing the process step by step? There is a ton of information out there but I would rather be pointed toward a good source by others with experience.

Thank you.

A little more info:

The site is about 20' in length (curved) and begins on a slightly raised flat mound with roughly a 20-25" decline toward the other end.

I'm not sure if I want the stream to end in the pond or start with the pond and give the illusion that it runs into the woods.

I remember seeing the following article in the Handyman magazine some time after I built my stream and waterfall and wished I had seen it BEFORE. It's for a pondless stream, but much of the actual stream construction should help with what you are wanting to do.

Be sure to click on all the links at the top of the article, especially the step-by-step pictures and instructions!

I agree with Sherry. I put in my pond, then decided I wanted a stream. I found this magazine and think the article is one of the best there is on stream building.
