Spacing waterlilies

Hello Forum,

I hope someone can help me.
I have only recently delved into the world of waterlilies and just set up my first real pond (an old cornar jacuzzi with PVC liner).

I have bought a few hardy waterlilies but I want to know, how much surface area does each plant need? Some books talk about spread, but I would think there can be some overlap. Is there a general rule?

The plants in questuion are marliacea x chromatella, marliacea x rosea, Indiana and another unidentified small-leaved type. All are planted in 200mm platic pots and they have a 30cm of water over the crowns.

Thanks,
Adam

What is the surface area of your pond?

I would say 2 square metres maybe. It's a rounded triangular shape.
