Do your tadpoles eat flake fish food?

When I feed the goldfish the tad poles swarm the flakes of fish food and eat them. I don't remember them ever doing this before. There is plenty of algae on the sides of the pond but when it is feeding time they come a swimming over and latch onto a flake of food then they nibble at it, swimming along, pushing it in front of them until it is gone. It is the weirdest behavior. There are so many tadpoles in the pond this year that I will be dodging baby toads in a month.
