| hello I recently came across a 20 gallon tub my neighbor was gonna throw out and I'd like to turn it into a pond (no koi or goldfish or anything like that) and I'm trying to figure out the best way to set this up. I have no electrical outlets near it nor would I want to have any I'm trying to do this "el natural". I get afternoon sun from around 2pm to dusk and I'm in connecticut. I was looking at getting the following plants
Frogbit
is it do able without a filter? or oxygen? I don't think I can do anacharis cause its illegal in connecticut is there another plant I can put in that will help oxygenate the water? |

| Would it be possible for you to sink it into the ground? I think it would stay cooler that way. You might be okay with a miniature water lily, but nothing bigger. Frogbit would be fine. You might get a fair amount of algae until your water lily grows. In the meantime, you could use some other smaller plants. Good luck to you. |

| sadly I cant put this into the ground I'm actually keeping it on a patio. To combat algae should I just wait it out or get enough plants to choke the algae out? |

| Probably the more plants you have in there, the quicker the water will clear up. You might have to pull out string algae regularly, but that's no big deal. Lots of times my smaller container watergardens get pretty clear, once there are plants growing in them. I think yours will do fine on your patio. Have fun! |
