Which heaters did you use? Mine are the Thermo Pond submersibles and they never bothered the preforms. Granted one was zip tied to the prefilter and the other was in an upper pond. No cracks. Maybe tie one onto a piece of slate next year. The slate will warm up and absorb the heat away from the tank.

That certainly proves it can be done.
I hope Catherinet reads this thread as she was having troubles with her stock-tanks cracking over the winter.

Amoore......what exactly did you find them under.......just "welding"? What size are your tanks, and how big were the cracks and where were they? Mine were 100 gallons and the crack was right under the drain.

I also found two companies locally in the yellow pages, that manufacture plastic products and will do plastic welding repairs to storage bins, storage tanks, stock-tanks, auto radiators, pipes etc.

I hope you're still around. I was wondering......what did your repair look like when it was finished? Was it flush with the stocktank material?
Did they just repair it from one side? Thanks!
