above ground pond

Hey guys, I really need your help. After living in the same house for 16 years, and creating 2, 1000 gal ponds and assorted other water features throughout the yard, I AM MOVING! The new yard is smaller and more manageable for my advancing age! Really don't want to dig another pond, so I thought I'd create an above ground beauty. I will dig down about 12 inches, and then build up 2 ft using landscape pavers. I plan to lay a liner and hold it in place with cap stones. It will sit alongside a garage and I have to figure out some sort of waterfall.
What I really need here are PICTURES or websites that will show me some ideas I can copy :) or tweek. Can you help me?

Congratulations on your new home.

I understand about the managable part. I use stocktanks for that reason. I like my containers and I think you will too. I have found that if they are too large across that you lose some of the convience. It is hard for me to reach a pot in the center of an 8' tank. It is much easier to keep they along the sides.

Pat,

Here are some links that might help you get visuals:

Amaqan has a good above ground wooden sided pond:

Also:

joeyb5980 & dbfirewife also have above ground ponds. Here is the link that includes their ponds as well as many in ground ones:

I have to rent so I have two 800 gallon stock tanks. They are not the prettiest thing to use but they are portable if I should need to move.
If you look in pond and water gardening books you can get great some ideas for above ground ponds. Members on many of the various pond forums have done some amazing above ground ponds.
I think I would always have above ground rather than in ground as its just easier to take care of.
As for not being able to reach things towards the middle of the big stock tanks, I have a small kids garden rake that I use. I can use it to grab the lip of lily pots and drag them towards me or push them back towards the center.

Do you want to see an above ground pond that is around 3000 gallons?

Follow the link and scroll down to the first picture(taken 3 years ago) of my partially above-ground pond. It is less than 2000 gallons. Since then, I've re-done the rocks that make up the waterfall.
I dug down more than 12 inches to the deepest part, which is @ 40 inches. If we ever move, I will definitely have another partially above-ground pond.

I have an above ground pond built of landscape timbers. It is 8'x8'x3'. I am very pleased with it, and the cats love walking around the top. I will try to post pictures.

Our Water Garden liner started leaking last year so, we made
our pond bigger and deeper. And it has a new shape, but we couldn't afford a new liner last year. So we got a stock tank,
and put our plants & fish in it for winter. And we put a heater in the tank. Everything survived, and growing in the tank.
