For Mike Bubbles in Priming Pot solved

Hi Mike and anyone else who's interested. Solved the problem of the air bubbles in priming pot. I talked to the dealer that I got my second priming pot for my other pump when no oring grease with order--apparently no longer sent with order. To make long story short he told me that the unions on the priming pot do not need teflon tape and to clean the plumbers grease of the oring on the lid and use vaseline. I didn't have vaseline and had read on other formums that it can degrade the oring but I did have pure lanolin.

So I removed the teflon on the unions, cleaned the oring which did have some grit on it, regreased, had my son tighten all the fittings as he has more hand strength than me and vola no bubbles! Just when I started it up and they went away quickly.

I wish they had a plumbing primer on this forum for challenged people--simple things like where to use teflon, check valve installation-vertical or horizontal, before or after pump etc maybe in the facts section as sometimes you can spend hours looking for key words!

On the bright side it is above 60F this week! With the pond not running I have some nice algae going on but should clear up soon as use koiclay in the spring. The two lines into my settling chamber work like a charm. Less than 1" of draw down now even with only a 2" line out of the chamber.

Thanks again for your help! Didn't stop raining here until Sunday which is why I didn't reply sooner. We had 4" of rain in two days!

I am glad that your problem is fixed and that you didn't use vaseline as it would cause the oring to grow over time. They will get so large that they will not fit.
Mike
