How deep should I bury the outlet tub for my pump?

Most of you know I am building my first pond. The hole is dug, all the parts are in hand and the electrician is scheduled for this coming Friday.

But I am not sure how deep to bury the outlet for my main pump. The pump will be submersed at the opposite end of the waterfall, at the bottom of a 15" diameter tube, with perforations in it, at 3 feet deep. The pond guy I talked to suggested this method to keep the pump clear of derby and to have it at the edge of the pond for easy access. A two inch flex pvc tube will run out of the pipe, around the outside of the pond and up to the waterfall (about 40' feet).

But I am not sure how deep to bury the flex pvc tube running to the waterfall, or not bury it and just hide it in the rocks and plants.

Any thoughts?

BTW: I am in Salt Lake Valley UT (high desert) we get temps down to 0' in the winter and up to 110' in the summer. No humidity and lots of snow.

Thanks!
