I was wondering if anyone has had luck growing or has tried to grow nasturtiums in their pond. Over the past several years I have planted impatients in my wateralls and they have more than thrived, but this year i have started about 60 nasturtiums in containers and was curious to know if they would grow in the waterfalls and was hoping someone on here may have done this. I thought they might look nice since they are agressive growers and flower like crazy.

Never tried them before, but I have them planted along the edge of the pond. A cutworm toppled my biggest one, so I stuck the upper part of it between the rocks, and amazingly it has rooted, so I'd have to say it's worth a shot.

Wow! Those impatiens look amazing! I have volunteer nasturiums every year next to my pond (not in it) and they trail into the pond and the flowers float on top of the water. I think it looks very pretty.

I don't know about nasturtiums in the pond. The flowers are edible so your fish might eat them! When I was researching floating planters the one site recommended sweet potatoe vine as the long roots clean the pond like hyacinth. I'm going to try this this year as hyacinth doesn't do so well in my climate and you can get the vine as pot stuffers in purple or green for cheap.

I agree Nasturtiums might be great. Hope someone knows. Re, potato vine, they grow great in zone 7 in water or on land. One plant (the green kind anyway) could cover a back yard. But I would wonder if it would do much in zone 3.
