what kind of pots to use for plants in pond

Greetings. I have a smallish pond configuration - a lower pond that's about 250 gallons, fed by a smaller upper pond that has planting areas around the edges that are essentially just shallow troughs. I am trying to put plants in these troughs, but am having trouble with the plants in their pots blowing over, especially when they are things like cyperus papyrus that are tall. These troughs aren't very wide - width from pond wall to inner wall about 6" - and the bottoms are rounded. I've been using standard plastic pots, but they just don't work.

What kinds of containers do others use in these troughs?

Thanks in advance for advice!
