Here is the latest two videos, I talked the Head Groundskeeper into taking out the yellow flag Iris in
the dog leg. It looks much nicer and bigger as well.
Now from my chair in the den (as I type this) I can see the waterfall in the back biological pond (not shown in the video)

He also moved a knock out rose a little to
the left of where the Iris was. The knock out roses are fantastic, with a constant bloom all spring, summer and fall up until the freeze.
Next time I shoot a video, I'll show you what I mean,
about the bio pond being visable from the deck and house now.

Here's the beach.
I also want to mention, that he plants the knock out roses in big pots, so that he can move them around. He does the same thing with all the flowers you see sprouting up between the ground covers --He plants them in pots, and
this way he has the option of moving them around, although the only reason he moves them -- is if they don't get enough sun, especially the ones on top of the waterfall,
they are sun deprived because of all the tall oaks.

Very beautiful C and J! The sound is so soothing, I could have fallen asleep just listening to it!
Its always a work-in-progress, isn't it? I don't think I know of any ponders who aren't always changing things around, moving things, improving things. What would we do without it?
Thanks for sharing your lovely videos!

Thanks Catherine...It's fun, 'specially the pups.
woof, woof ...

Beautiful. Maybe I need to put my roses in large pots. Our dirt isn't any good and they are just sitting there.

Gorgeous. Great idea planting in pots. Sure makes it easier to "change our minds."

Wow, made me feel as if I were there in person. I agree with all of the above. Birds singing, water flowing, crystal clear water. I just love how your water pups follow the camera person shoving each other out of the way hoping to get food. They are too funny.

Just beautiful Cliff and Joan.
Isn't it great to have such a relaxing spot in your yard, where you can relax and take note of nature.

I can sit for hours just watching the "goings on" going on in and around my pond. Between the antics of fish ,frogs, birds, chipmunks and our little dog, life never gets boring.
Retirement is a tough job to handle.
Thanks for sharing your pond and garden.

Thank you everyone, glad you enjoyed the videos.
I'm still learning. So far I can just about manage a few steps
with the camera in hand. I'm afraid to do a real
walk-about, as
I may trip on a rock and have to go for a
unplanned swim-about :)
Funny thing horton, we haven't had a frog for years, I think
our fish are to big and scare away the frogs.

You're probably right Joann, there could be too much action going on with the koi, for a frog to get peace to croak.:)
Have a great day,

Beautiful pond and aquatic life! Thanks for sharing Joann.

Do you have rocks on the bottom or just at the beach area?
I know you have a bottom drain or two.

What size is your ornamental pond? Depth?

Your gardener has hit his stride with your pond banks! Great tip on using the pots & moving around, esp to get at more sunlight!

Thanks Pondbucket...funny thing,I nagged the head groundskeeper until he removed the yellow flag iris.
This opened up a big area, so that he was able to move one of his rose pots in that area. When I looked out the window, I commented on how smart I was, cause now we can see the waterfall from the house. He said, yes, It's a miracle!!!...and all thanks to you! hahahaa..He spent an entire day, cleaning out the area and trimming the small maple tree over the bio pond, so that the waterfall was visable...

Yes, only the beach has rocks, the rest of the pond is suppose to be rockless, but the koi like to dig in the pots, pick up small rocks roll them around in their mouths and spit them out where they want them...we still have a lot
of small rocks in the dog leg that have to be removed, because of the digging koi.
we replaced all the small rocks in the beach with BIG rocks.
The beach gets blasted with the hose just about every week
to release all waste.
The small pond is 200 gallons, and about 15" deep.
It's actually a bio pond, the water flows back and forth
between both ponds.

Back to the Beach...

I took two more videos yesterday. One shows the dog leg and
you can see all the pebbles and sand that has to be removed.
The head groundskeeper has to go in with a hand shovel
and bucket, he says it's easier than trying to vacuum.
We can't entirely blame the fish for all the pebbles and sand, as a lot of it accumulated over the winter.
In the one video of the beach, you'll notice that my imagine rock is missing...It's not really missing, it's just that they turn it over, and they do this all the time
to drive me crazy.
They're unreal...Don't they know that their bottom feeders, and only suppose to come up to grab the floating food!
As stated in my other threads all the flowers are planted in pots and snuggled in between the ground covers and ivy.

Mmmmm.....the sounds of birds and a soothing waterfall. I just loved the video. The plantings around the pond are gorgeous. The Koi look so healthy and active. Your water is absolutely crystal clear. I need to watch this videoo at work to de-stress me. Great job on the pond and video.

RE: Videos from May 28, 2010

Thanks Lisa and Nancy, we just got back from a 4 day road trip...oops... I mean we arrived
home at 1:00 and it's 3:45
now, and I'm still outside on the deck with my laptop, still in vacation mode. :)

Sure missed the pups, and they missed us too...woof, woof.
