What is this plant?

Grady Stanley

Two years ago a friend gave me what he called an arrowhead plant. In less than 24 months those two 10" tall plants spread like wildfire and became what you see in the picture. Some of the plants are now 4' tall. I have never seen any kind of bloom. I thought maybe an elephant ear of some type but they don't have a tuber root like elephants ears I've seen. The roots are long and stringy, white in color. They spread by sending out runners which root and then sprout new plants. I hope someone can identify this for me.
