I'm pretty sure the life cycle can vary greatly from type of frog. I believe it can take years for a bullfrog to fully metamorphosize.

Do you have fish in your pond? I have lots of tadpoles and they grow up and leave in one season unless they are bull frog tadpoles and they take 2 seasons to mature. You can look for them with a flashlight at night to see what kind of frog or toad poles you have or go to a website that has frog and toad mating calls for identification.

Be sure to leave them a way to get out of the pond when they are mature-thru climbing out on plants or stacked rocks to climb out on. Most of my tadpoles are toads and are very tiny when they mature. About dime size. You have to watch where you step around the pond when they leave since they all seem to leave at the same time.

I enjoy the tadpoles and watching them mature. I do try to catch and relocate the bull frogs that find their way into my pond because they eat my fish babies and the smaller fish.

Hi there are no fish in the pond, just the tadpoles. The only frogs in my yard are the common green to my area and the occasional toad. The frogs that I have heard are the spring peepers- the green frogs. There are lots of plants and rocks around the edge but I will have to keep and eye out. thanks

It's actually very cool when they do leave the pond - as someone said, they all seem to leave together - and you walk near the pond, the whole area is hopping tiny frogs. It's like you have jumping grass.

I know 'they' say that fish don't eat toad poles but my fish eat them when they are little but I haven't seen them eat them when they get bigger. This controls them a little bit. I have some new tiny tadpoles this year and can't wait to see what they turn into. Maybe tree frogs. I got a few little tadpoles when I got some fairy moss from the pond store and don't know what they will be. My toad poles have back legs now. They are the cutest little boogers.
