We are closing on Tuesday on a new home. Our new home is on an acre and a half which is a huge upgrade from our current 1/6th of an acre. The added land affords me the opportunity to have the much larger pond that I've always wanted. Here's the catch.....

I believe a pond should "fit". MY pond should not be a pile of rocks or dirt creating a man-made waterfall with no natural reason to be there other than to be a man-made garden pond. At the same time, I want the pond to provide suitable habitat for both fish and frogs/toads.

We tried to buy a home on a property that was not level affording me the chance to have an upper-pond which would flow over the wall to the lower pond. Only the lower was going to have fish. The deal didn't work out and now we are fortunate enough to be buying a nicer house on a nicer property, but it is flat. This is the area I hope to place the pond:
