Pond photo!

We inherited this pond with the house we bought, and now we learn how to take care of it and its goldfishy denizens.

Now, to figure out what to do so that I don't have to clean our mechanical filter - involving pulling it out of the water - every few days.

Cute pond. I really like the moss covered stone surrounding it. If you want to get rid of your underwater filter your best bet is to research a DIY out of pond filter. You will have to hide it behind landscaping but it will make your pond maintenance much easier. Also check out floating islands as they are a nice way to add annual flowers to the pond and they will provide a nice, shady place for your fish.

Oh, good to know! Thank you, will take a look at both.

Also, I think we have water lilies, so we ought to have shade once they finish coming up.

FYI You have to clean every filter, some more than others but they do all have to be cleaned.

buyorsell: Figured. I prefer to have one that's easier to get to (ie, outside of the water), and doesn't require cleaning quite so often. Even once a week would be much better!
