OMG they are trying to kill each other!

WOW! Violence in my little pond today! I am sure this is just spawning activity but I have one pearl colored 8-13 yr old goldfish (1/2 fancy tail)that is getting it from both sides! A big long fancy tail (orange and white) and the big fancy tail black and copper one. I have a flat, moss covered log floating in there for frogs and any little critter that may fall in. They are throwing her out of the water and up on the log (she wiggles right off)! She must have been tossed up there 100 times today! It could be my imagination but I think she looks a little bruised???? OH MY!. This IS normal right?

Iwould keep an eye on her. Sometimes they get beat up so bad they don't recover. But as soon as she has released her eggs they should leave her alone. Just watch her and if she seems in distress, you might want to take her out and let her recover in a QT. Is she the only female?

Fish doing the happy dance can get pretty wild. I've never been able to determine which ones are female they just won't pull up their skirts and mine seem to spawn in the early morning hours. When I have caught them in the act my biggest fish seem to be the females but in all that flurry it's hard to tell.

I am sure she is not the only female.......but then you never know. There's about 15 in there, 6 of them are at least 13 years old. The rest are progressively younger. She looks fine today, ate well and as perky as ever. I want to do a water change (let my well water hose overflow the pond for 1/2 hour)to try to flush the eggs out, I don't need any more fish but I bet these babies would be beautiful. HHHUUUMMMM

Aww... I wish you were closer, I'd take a couple of the babies off your hands. :)
