Can I grow 'lucky' bamboo in pond with koi

Hi
Wondering if anyone has grown "lucky" bamboo in their ponds. I have a very small one dwindling away in the house and wondered if I contained the root system, whether it would be ok in the pond. I do have koi in pond and wasn't sure if this is harmful in any way. Your responses would be appreciated. Thanks, Connie

I don't know if there is a difference in bamboo house plants and regular bamboo, but if you do put it in the pond, keep it in an enclosed pot. Bamboo spreads via runners under the soil, and it can take over pretty quickly. Very invasive plant.

You might want to do a google search to find out how hardy it is. You might need to bring it inside during the cold months.

Lucky Bamboo is actually not a bamboo at all, but a grass. It's latin name is Dracaena sanderiana. It is toxic to pets if it's eaten, but as long as it's up out of the water it should not hurt the fish. It's interesting to note that this plant actually prefers to be planted in soil. It will survive in water but may end up rotting. It's hardy down to about 55°.

I tried it a few year ago, and it didn't fair well.
It doesn't seem to like the sun. If you have a shady area
of the pond, try it...nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Didn't fair well for me either.
