proper way of digging a fish pond

I had a contractor dig a fish pond for me,,,its 60x30x20 ft deep,,,my problem is he dug the sides straight down,,,I asked about this and he assured me this was ok,,,I dont think that it is because of safty issues with animals or people falling in with no way to get out,,,can anyone help me with this,,,I want it fixed and dont think I should have to pay for it,,I dont know how to get this fixed because I do not believe he will do it without me being a jerk an going to court,,,,any ideas,,,,thank you

Wow even with water pressure I would worry about the sides collapsing at some point. Is this going to be a liner pond, a clay or bentonite pond?
