I have a stream and water splashing with some sedum that grows well. It is not a bog but is generally damp.

My smallest bog had sedum, Irish and Scottish mosses. The mounted soil in the bird bath kept the roots out of standing water but keeps the soil moist even though this is in full sun. Lawn sprinkler kept the water level up.

Thanks for the info on how your sedums have done. The picture is great. I will start some sprigs in the bog around my pond and see how they do. I am putting a fairy garden there and wanted some low growing greens among the pitcher plants. I also have red heart growing and it seems happy in the bog.

I'd like to know others' experience with this as well. I received some Sedum Autumn Joy from a friend who says she just sticks the broken-off stems in the ground and they root. I did this with some she gave me around our pond in pretty damp soil and hope they make it! I love the beautiful sedum bird bath.

I received some sedum autumn joy from a friend as well. Planted them near the pond but not too close & they did well for a couple years. Then we had an exceptionally frigid winter & I haven't seen them since:(

On a positive note, I stuck some broken stems in the ground at the edge of the pond. Not a bog but as I top off my pond w/a fine mist sprinkler they get lots of water & stay moist year round. These are thriving. Whodathunk?

Love the birdbath. I've made several attempts with these plants (love them!) but can't seem to get the hang of it. They 'live' but do not thrive, never mind spread and don't survive our mild winters here when they most certainly should. I've done extensive research, know way more than anyone has reason to know about them, lol, and STILL no luck. I've even planted them in various locations in the hope that micro-climates might lend new insight....nope. Please do enlighten me as to what I'm missing here. Not quite ready to give up yet..
