 o
Pond and Zoning Arkansas ?

I have a friend in Texas who has a large pond with many Koi. He has always offered as many as I could catch if I wanted to build a pond of my own. Well I've just installed a large bamboo garden and a decent size Koi pond would look great in front of it. What I'd like to know is what are the Zoning restrictions for ponds in Arkansas? I've searched the local gov sites and this forum but can't seem to find the info. I'd hate to put in a pond only to have it violate some ordinance.

RE: Pond and Zoning Arkansas ?

You'll have to call or email your local city government or city hall. You should be able to find the numbers in your phone book. Or, do a google search to see if there is a pond or watergarden club in your particular town or city. They should be able to tell you.

Yep, call the city you are in. They all vary from place to place.

Example, our town has no restrictions/requirements on building a pond. But a few towns over you can't run your garden hose without getting a permit from the city which takes an act of congress (I am exaggerating, but you get my drift).

In our little town it's the electrical (running to the pond) they care about, not the pond itself.

It is a good idea to look into how restrictive towns are before purchasing property, there is nothing I dislike worse than someone else telling me what I can and can't do on MY land. ;)

RE: Pond and Zoning Arkansas ? thanks

OK I talked to the guys at the city after getting transferred several times but since it is a landscape feature and not a pool there are no issues with zoning. Coool! This is Arkansas and Cali but you better safe than sorry.

Now to do more research.

THANKS
