Just wanted to show what I made for a plant shelf...egg crates and some crates that say aqua somthing on them...so cool that I scored them as they are all scrounged from the local recycling depot/thrift store...I zap strapped them all together and it seems to be holding good. I also made one for the pond pump so it wasn't on the very bottom of the pond...I also used the big black zap straps to hang my hose just under the rock capstones around my pond. I made my pond without any plant shelves so I could eliminate the "critters/raccons/herons", that may try to stop by! So this sits in the middle of the pond, with a lily on each end and three plants in the middle.

I now have it in the pond with water and it seems a bit unsturdy so I am thinking of putting rocks in the baskets with the lilies to stabalize it a bit more...
|
That is a great idea and it also gives the fishes a place to hide and some shade, if needed.

I was a little afraid you meant they were going to be on the side of the pond (where coons can step on them), but I see they are in the middle. Its a great idea! Yes, rocks will help stabilize them. I've had to do that with some of my crates. Good job! How about a pic of the pond now?
