chlorine-tolerant pond/bog plants

Our above-ground pool overflows every time we swim (it rains nearly every day here), so we've created a shallow gravel-filled streambed that leads the water away from the foundation.

If we leave it, the streambed will fill with weeds. I'd rather have pondish plants, preferably ones that don't clog the waterway with roots.

We only adjust chlorine and pH at this time, no algicide.

Any good plants that will stand up to chlorine? Some tall, some short, colorful would be nice. Would taro or related plants do OK? I've got a lot of them around.
