Lights for frog pond ??

I recently installed a small 300 gal pond with the hopes of attracting frogs and toads. So far a few toads have been hanging around and I'd like to have some sort of light out there so I can see them better and to attract bugs for them. I have some landscape lights with clear, red or green filters But I'm not sure if it would scare the wildlife away.
Anybody have lights and wildlife?

Dirtybug,

I have both landscaping low-voltage lights in the garden where my pond is placed and submerged LED low-voltage lights in the pond (3 of them). I get plenty of frogs and toads. I have birds, raccoons, cats, foxes, and neighborhood dogs that on occasion jump into the pond for a cooling-off... well, the cats don't get in, nor have I seen the foxes IN the pond.

I can't say any of the lights deter the visitors, and my submerged lights are color cycling (about 8 colors in all). I would think the spectrum of light may make a slight difference, but if you use a common light source, you'll get the usual bugs to that light source.

Still if you have a garden surrounding your pond, you can bet you have all the treats your frogs and toads need. I see my frogs outside the pond on the walkway all the time... I'm pretty sure they are dining.

In past summers I've had a toad that hung out around a small solar light in my garden so that must have attracted something for him. I doubt it scared off anything.

Sounds like a fun pond you are creating.
